The purpose of this Code is to set forth the professional conduct of individuals participating in HITS events, including organizers, session chairs, invited speakers, presenters, attendees and sponsors.
HITS is dedicated to providing a welcoming, safe and productive environment for all who attend our events, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion. We do not tolerate any form of intimidation, harassment, or disrespectful conduct at any time.
Violation of the HITS Code of Conduct includes offensive verbal comments and inappropriate or demeaning language, aggressive behavior of any kind and unwanted physical contact.
Participants violating the HITS Code of Conduct may be asked to leave the event without a refund at the sole discretion of the event organizers and also banned from attending future events organized by HITS.
If you experience any violation of this code of conduct, please contact a member of the organizing team immediately.
By attending a HITS event, every individual agrees to the HITS Code of Conduct as stated above.
This anti-harassment policy is based on the example policy from the Geek Feminism wiki, created by the Ada Initiative and other volunteers, as well as the Cold Spring Harbour Laboratory Code of Conduct.
